“That’s how people of conscience view the world. It’s the belief, as my husband often says, that if any child goes hungry, that matters to me, even if she’s not my child. If any family is devastated by disease, then I cannot be content with my own good health. “One of the greatest myths in the world - the phrase ‘greatest myths’ is just a fancy way of saying ‘big fat lies’ — is that troublesome things get less and less troublesome if you do them more and more. People say this myth when they are teaching children to ride bicycles, for instance, as though falling off a bicycle and skinning your knee is less troublesome the fourteenth time you do it than it is the first time. “I dont expect women to wear exactly what I show on the catwalk, & I don’t think thats the goal of a designer at all. Each show will take about 20 minutes, it’s 20 minutes of vision, its 20 minutes of walking into Karl’s dream. You don’t have to get the whole dream, but just the elements.. the biggest mistake all women make in makeup is its all too much, or not enough. You have to find the right balance.”
